Exercise is an effective way to relieve stress and can improve energy, weight, mental health, circulation, and sleep. Exercising a couple of times a week for only half an hour can make a big difference to fertility & chances of conceiving. Physical activity has been shown to confer a protective effect on fertility when coupled with weight loss in obese women. However, excessive exercise can negatively alter energy balance and result in hypothalamic dysfunction & alterations in GnRH pulsatility, leading to menstrual abnormalities, particularly among female athletes.
A healthy amount of exercise in men can be beneficial. Physically active men who exercised at least three times weekly for an hour scored higher in almost all sperm parameters in comparison to those who participated in more frequent & rigorous exercise.
